A World of Reasons to AttendChris Tebbs, Executive Director, IDC
IDC members who attend our conventions benefit from the tremendous knowledge gained about our industry -- knowledge rarely available from other sources, as it reflects the trends and advances from a global perspective. We've lined up an array of talented speakers on a diverse range of subjects, from the restoration of antique garments, to how to rise from the ashes after catastrophic loss of a plant. We'll also be brought up to date with the latest attempts to introduce yet more regulations into our industry, and what some are doing to ensure those regulations are not only relevant, but practical. A visit to a local textile care plant has been arranged, and such visits are great for picking up great ideas you can introduce to your own business immediately. A trademark of IDC conventions is a round up of reports from international delegates on how the industry is developing and growing throughout the world in these challenging times.
However, probably the greatest benefit of attending an IDC convention is the outstanding personal relationships that are forged -- IDC was a leader in networking before anyone even thought of the term. These friendships allow delegates to travel with, correspond with or call on each other all year round for business advice, help and general discussion of industry problems.
As one delegate said, "If I don't learn at least one new practice or idea that will increase my profitability and recover the cost of attendance at least ten-fold, then I can't have been listening."
Why not join us this year in San Francisco, and see what all the excitement is about? Once you attend an IDC Convention, you'll never look at the world the same way again.
You don't know what you're missing!Carol Memberg, IDC President 2007
Plans for IDC’s 2007 convention are firming up, and I am looking forward to seeing old and new friends from around the world. Although most people understand that there is a wealth of knowledge to be gained at the sessions and plant visits, they don’t always realize how much is gained by the wonderful social and networking opportunities. Years ago, at my first IDC convention, I was amazed at the welcoming atmosphere, the friendliness and the open exchange between people from all the countries represented. When people have a common interest, barriers disappear and business talk evolves into friendships. Join us in San Francisco and expand your business and your horizons.
